Just a quick question. Can I update from Visual Studio 2003 to 2008 without getting the 2005 version? I've looked on the web but never found anything for moving from 2003 directly to 2008. Thanks in advance.

I've only played around with the VS08 BETA. I would assume it can convert your VS 03 to VS 08 as VS03/05 can still upgrade your VB6 projects.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. I want to know if MS is going to force me to buy VS 2005 upgrade first and then buy the VS 2008 upgrade.

I would doubt it. The big difference is VS2005 uses .NET 2.0 and VS08 uses .NET 3.5. I have no idea if you have to convert your programs to .NET 2.0 before you can convert to .NET 3.5.

MS never forces you ;-). So no.

1.1 to 2.0 is usely painless, the odd exception here and there. And 2008 does support 2.0. And you probably won't need 3.0 or 3.5 features any time soon ;-).
