Hello,

I want to install a visual alarm indicator using the db9 connector on the back of IPSI board. Will use red and yellow bulb for major and minor alarms, I have with me the pinouts of the connector but don't know the exact rating or the output of the back connector. I need this information for me to buy the appropriate specs of the relay I'm going use. Does anyone did this before?

Or could somebody have a better explanation on this?
Thanks,

mwooks

mwooks,

when i maintained avaya systems myself, i just assigned major-alarm and minor-alarm buttons to my phone and that's all.

Thanks Dwalin. But our maintenance team wanted to have a visual alarm indicator by using bulbs. I'm just curious on the output of the db9 connector on the back of the IPSI board such as the voltage or current rating or whatsoever.

Do you have an idea on this?

Regards,

If the IPSI's loose control or get into trouble the switch will throw alarms in. Are you using anything (like alarm lights on attendent consoles) now for other switch troubles?

mwooks,

You need 2 documents. The first one is "Hardware Description and Reference for Avaya Communication Manager" page 328 which will describe the functionality of the pins on the DB9 of the IPSI and the second is "Job Aid: Connector and Cable Diagrams (Pinout Charts)" page 7 which gives you a table with the pin layout.
You can find both documents on the CM 3.1 documentation CD of the Avaya support website (support.avaya.com).

Hope this helps.
