Hey all, I know this isn't exactly an XP forum issue, but I love all of you so much that I had to bring this up for discussion.

I have several network analyzer boxes using a product called ntop.

One of the things that I keep seeing at my sites is this Now, to my knowledge we do not use this product/website, yet I am seeing on approximately 80% of the sites that I am checking.

I checked out the website and it appears to be one of those sites to give you a visual reality of your websites/resource and how often they are visited and how they are visited.

Is it possible that they might be some type of spyware website/application that just wants you to use their product to do their secret data mining?

If anyone can shed some light on this product/website, I would be greatly appreciative.

TIA

Carrie

does your analyzer box say were the traffic is coming from? Probably somone on your network installed the ap would be my guess.

Edit your HOSTS file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc using notepad.

Be carefull that notepad does not add a ".txt" extension to the file when done. The file must not have an extension.

Append to what is there:

127.0.0.1

Hi Thanks for all your input.

1101001100110101,
I have traced the traffic to a user on the segment and know for a fact that they have not loaded the app.

bcastner,
We do not typically use the hosts file. I have 4000 nodes that I monitor and I don't know if I want to take the time implement your suggestion although I believe that it would work.

We decided to user our websense server to block traffic from that site. We shall see what happens!! I did manage to get confirmation from all upper management that we do not use that product for data mining.

I'll try to let you know if this was a good or bad idea.

Thanks again!!
