I have a very annoying problem. I have a friend's windows xp pro box that had (are you ready for this?) 2712 infected files on it. I was unable to log into the system normally, so I restarted in safe mode. After running a system cleaner (which I have used many times on it before) to remove the viri I can no longer log on to the system (safe mode or normal). When I log in I see the SAFE MODE text in all 4 coreners of the screen (like normal), but only for a split second. Then, it logs me off immediately.

Part of my dillema is that the XP Pro is the french version (I'm in Canada) so I do not have the original disk available. Other than reinstalling XP or starting using the XP Pro cd, is there a way around this?

My bad... I just noticed that it's XP Home - sorry. Any ideas?
