Virus in Bios?

Hi everyone,<br>This is the worst computer hardware related problem I have confronted. I have a Abit BH6, Graphics Blaster TNT 16MB, 128MB Memory and Standard Floppy Drive. When I insert my Viruscan boot disk, I get a message saying something like <br>&quot;Not enough memory, unable to run Scan. Halting your computer.&quot; No drives/additional cards are connected to the motherboard when this happens. Can there be a Virus in my BIOS that is limiting access to memory or does anyone know what is going on here? Thank you.

if possible try to boot off a floppy disk, there have been chances where you can copy a flash utility and the BIOS Flash rom, onto the floppy disk, and reflash your bios, and I think I have heard of BIOS viruses, that stay in the CMOS, which brings me to another point, if you have your motherboard manual, (or have access to the internet, which you seem to have finding the Abit manual online) figure out how to clear the CMOS, usally by changing the jumper, turning on the power for a sec, then putting the jumper back in place, and the BIOS/CMOS should be clear to its default setting. I reset the CMOS. Still can't get the VirusScan boot disk to work. Any other ideas?

Check to make sure that the following line is in your config.sys file on the virus rescue disk, and himem.sys is in the root dir on the disk.<br><br>device=himem.sys<br><br>if this line is not there you will only be able to access the first 640k of memory.<br><br>Hope this helps.
