Hello,<br><br>I am trying to update the virus definitions for 100 or so workstations.&nbsp;&nbsp; We are using Norton Anti-Virus 5.0, and all my clients are Windows 95/98.&nbsp;&nbsp;On my main server we have NetWare 4.11 but are upgrading (tomorrow, actually) to NetWare 5.0 and ZenWorks 2.0.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have gotten the SARC updater to &quot;run&quot; on each user's workstation using an application object, but now have been asked to run the update automatically (meaning take away the user interface).<br>I have tried this with application objects and ZenWorks Snappshot but I'm having no luck.&nbsp;&nbsp; If anyone has any advice on a course of action it would be much appreciated.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thank you.<br><br>Kris<br>

Look at Novell's Zenworks Cool solutions web site. they ran a series of articles about this topic.

I had good success creating an app object from scratch (no snapshot or AXT) that simply copies the updated definition files to the local drive. Using an app object instead of just putting a copy command in the login script allowed us to replace the files even if they were in use. (reboot required in that case though) And, every few months they come out with an update to the virus scanning engine, and we need to treat that differently.

Also, most anti-virus vendors have some kind of automatic update built in to their engine. [sig][/sig]

Another option would be to add the virus update.exe to the login script. Or use applancher with the forced run option to run it once. [sig][/sig]
