We have recently hired a person who works from home. This person is considered to be part of this office and I was wondering if I can setup an extension that would forward to his house number. For example the extensions that we use in the office are roughly 3500 - 3700 and I want to assign him 3605 but it forwards to his house number. I do want to have to use a spare phone to do this.

Since you do want to use a spare phone, make that phone 3605 and forward it to his house number.

Sorry I meant that I did not want to use a spare phone for this. Sorry should have read it better before posting.

We do have DID's for phones but I am not as concerned about outside people using a DID to call him. I just want people from within the office to be able to dial his extension 3605 and it go to his house phone.

I hope this helps with the software information:

That helps a bit.

You need to find an "Inactive DN".
Assign the Target Line that receives the digits 3605.
Make sure the DN has access to the outbound pool group.
Make sure the DN has "Allow Redirect" checked in Capabilities.
Program the outbound number in "Fwd All" field, including any digit required to dial out, on the "Properties" tab.

Hi SupportDude,

I'm trying to do the exact same thing that arell12 was trying to do. I'm a little bit more new to this system so some of the steps that you had outlined are a bit strange to me...I was wondering if you could help me?

- You need to find an "Inactive DN".
Ok I did that (i.e. 223)

- Assign the Target Line that receives the digits 3605.
What does this mean?

- Make sure the DN has access to the outbound pool group.

This is the system that I'm using:
Business Communication Manager Release 3.7 Build 2.4f

I appreciate any help that you can give me!

Sincerely

I'm not sure how you do this...can you elaborate?

- Make sure the DN has "Allow Redirect" checked in Capabilities.
Ok I know how to do that

- Program the outbound number in "Fwd All" field, including any digit required to dial out, on the "Properties" tab.
Ok I know how to do that too.

1) Another way is to change the 3605 DN to something else.

2) In ROUTING create a route that the SENT DIGITS are the users home phone number, also select the outbound path (ie: BlocA, BlocB, or Pool A)

3) Then create a DESTINATION CODE of 3605 and have it use the route you created in step 2, set absorb to ALL

If you want to have their 3605 DID follow as well, setup a REMOTE ACCESS PACKAGE and allow that package to use the outbound path above. Assign that REMOTE ACCESS PACKAGE to all your inbound trunks (not the target lines, the trunks themselves). This will work, but if someone dials the users extension from voicemail, they won't be transferred as it's a PUBLIC type call...
