I know this is cheap of me but I’m in search is some free or inexpensive virtual CD software, we have some at the moment that allows me to mirror a CD onto a network drive and share it to lots of users. Unfortunately it isn't Win2k compatible and the popular virtual CD software is thousands and I only use it for a couple of CD's that just won't work otherwise (Yes I have a site licence).

Does anyone successfully use a cheap or free version of this?

Thanks.

Yeh i have looked at this one and it's a reasonable price untill you need 300 clients.

Cheers tho.

Can you not just copy the contents of the CD up to a network share and use that? Give it read only for everybody share permissions, as a CD would be in real life?

John

why don't you just put the cd that you want to share in the drive, open the explorer, share the drive unlimited with read for evertbody.

hope this helps

A single CD drive doesn't serve 30 connections at the same time very well, also i don't have a server with 3 drives permanently available.
