View who has a file open

Is there any way you can check a file and see who has the file open? I know from the server, you can check the open sessions or open files and see, but I am wanting to do this from a workstation, if possible. Are there any CMD commands I can run to see this information? Thanks all!

If the file is shared, run mmc, and go into add and find shares. Then it will give you the option to browse and go select the server. (This is assuming your running w2k pro for your pc.) Glen A. Johnson

Well, I am not wanting to give very much access to my server to those who want to see this information. Right now, they don't have access to see/modify the shares. Is there any other way?

Sorry, not that I know of. Net share sets up and deletes who can share from dos if I understand it and net view shows everything on the server, but not who has files open. Maybe somebody else knows more about it than I. Good Luck. Glen A. Johnson

The only other thing is to use internal TS session and then run Net session
