We have two networks that are connected by routers. Trying to use netmeeting to connect to web cams across the network for a demonstration. The actual call connects ok, but there is no image coming through or sound.

We have even tried sending the call using MSN Messenger but to no success!

I think that it is something to do with the video signal/sound not getting past the router?

Any ideas, or has anyone had a similar problem?

Both boxes are Windows XP (120 evals).

Not tried with XP but your problems are caused by the routers.

There are loads of reasons it is not working but the obvious ones are:

1. NAT. Netmeeting can't cope cos it embeds the source address in the packet. Thanks MS.
2. Routers don't allow packet through. Open ports 389, 523 at least. You may need others.
3. Routers don't allow H323 through. Depending on the router, you'll need the H323 fixup support.
4. Something else (I'm butt saving).
