Video Conferencing Qos

Hi All,

I need to figure out Qos for Video. I am scratching my head on this. There are so many options. Basically i need to configure Qos in order to prevent choppy video. I assume i will need to configure it on the end point and my main router. Do I need to configure it on the main switches as well? Do I need to configure Qos on each sub interface? I have a frame relay network need to do this for 3 sites. 2 sites have a T1 and the other 512k back to our main office over a T1 back bone connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

well when you turn on frame-relay traffic shaping and apply a class-map

it will really help voice or video traffic as it will break the packets up and get them on the serial line faster..

you can use

map-class frame-relay cisco512k
frame-relay cir 512000
frame-relay mincir 512000
frame-relay bc 5120
frame-relay fragment 640

after i enabled traffic shaping i began to have latency issues on the slower circuits. If i apply this below. Do i apply it to both ends of the circuit?

map-class frame-relay cisco512k
frame-relay cir 512000
frame-relay mincir 512000
frame-relay bc 5120
frame-relay fragment 640

ya you would need that on both ends of the 512k link.
if you only did it at one end you would probably run into issues as your fragmenting on one side and not the other.

I have a problem now where the router will not take the fragment command. Any Ideas?

it would be an ios issue.. my guess.
unless you can do it on both ends dont do it

If i wanted to attempt to apply qos for VPN would i apply it to the ethernet interface or the vlan1 interface to apply qos before encryption?
