video card will not install

we changed the OS from win 95 to NT 4 due to networking reasons


now the video card driver is installed, then it asks to restart the system, then clik yes

it restarts


then it says could not fing video driver or configuration may be incorect. then you clik on ok, then another screen comes up looking for another video driver


it is the correct driver for win NT. Also if the driver is installed, and you do not restart the machine, u get all these options, like 256, 64000, 16000000 colors, and refresh rate, and change screen resolution

when it is tested it works fine. but then u clik ok for it, then it restarts for changes 2 take affect then the same thing happens as b4 and asks for the driver again


its a gateway G6-333c system with windows NT 4, SP 6a
the video card is integrated, and uses mpact2 driver from chromatic research


b4 wen it had win95 it used the same driver, but for win95 and worked fine

any help or ideas would b apreciated

Is it really correct driver? (you say it is, but also that its same as win95 driver - which would make it very unlikely to be).

How are you installing driver? (has it a set up, or are you changing adapter from display properties).

Have you tried installing it in VGA mode?

ok i fixed it

b4 the system is restarted, i had 2 right click on the ini file for the driver
and click install

then restart the system


so it is the correct driver, jus that winNT wasnt registering it

I had a similar problem with a Dell Laptop. After I updated the BIOS it was able to correctly install the driver. Hope it works for you as well.
