Hello all,
I've been trying to update my video card to the newest bios, but it still displays the old settings.I have a GAINWARD GeFORCE4 POWERPACK ULTRA/650-8X XP GOLDEN SAMPLE card.I tried to update thru windows XP.Do I need to load it on disc and run it like a motherboard bios update?

You have been trying to update your video card DRIVER ?

Ok, so from Gainward, you downloaded it to your HDD, just install as you would anything else. If this does not work , try going into hardware manager and updating the driver from there, then pointing to the driver on your HDD..

Good Luck! Please let us know what you think of posts, feedback is always appreciated as this will help to further our knowledge as well.

I think skyman43 is talking about fimware upgrade (the information that a graphics card displays when you first boot) which can be upgraded for performance, compatibility and features.
My only advice would be as with motherboard bios flash, download Gainwards step by step instructions and follow them to the letter. Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

thnaks for the info.I'll check out Gainward's site for instructions on how to upgrade the firmware.I just hope it's not as bad as the mobo upgrade.....had to have it reprogrammed..
