vi problem from pc & telnet 2

when I try vi from my PC & telnet it gives me error
ex: 0602-108 ANSI is not a recognized terminal type.
[Press return to continue]

Same error with vt-100 and vt-52
How can I resolve this problem ?

Hi there,

Make sure your pc terminal emulation package is emulating a vt100 terminal and then, at the UNIX shell prompt, type:

export TERM=vt100

then try vi again Mike

can u make u r problem more clear..
are u trying to vi from u r pc.....?

If you are telneting into the system Export TERM=vt100 but make sure
your emulation software is set to one of them.

As for trying to vi and getting the error I to get the same error unless I
export TERM=vt100 then im ok.

Also by telneting you mean you are going to the start clicking on run
and typing telnet then the ip.
If you are make sure when the telnet screen comes up you check the terminal setting
by clicking on terminal then preferences make sure vt-100/ANSI
then you should be ok.

And remember: if you are using the same server each and every day edit your [tt].profile[/tt] and add a line saying
[tt]
export TERM=vt100
[/tt]
