Hi!
I have to built an app in VFP 7.0 which acceses a database from MS SQL server.I'm thinking to take advantage of MS SQL server security (user rights) to manipulate the database. The problem is with remote views. They depend on connections or data sources. Further more, these don't accept variables such as password and user name.Once they are built, they cannot be changed on the fly.Any idea about a scenario with this problem would be welcome. Thank you!

I believe you can create connection strings or use file based data sources. You should be able to modify those as you go. If you search around here you should be able to find a number of threads where using and changing connections are discussed as well as creating remote views on the fly. Of course you have to be careful how or if you store the login info you're going to send to SQL Server. Dave Dardinger

Thanks Dave for your answer. It seems I didn't search enough
through other threads and also I put wrong key word search.

I'm not sure if you've actually gotten good information now or not. Try searching for 'connection string' in the advanced search window with 'exact phrase' and 'my forums only' selected. You'll get lots of messages and can just read the ones from this forum (if you browse a lot of different ones here).
