Hi

OS: Win 98 SE.
Connected to network.

I changed the CD-Rom and the system can't start-up to Windows. The system halt and the about error is given. Is the new CD-Rom( savaged from another similar system ) incompatible?

I have reformatted the hard-disk but the problem keeps coming back.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

yes, I could but all of the link does not highlight and it gives you a 404 error. Thanks!!

Yeah there's something wrong with the software this forum uses. Sometimes the whole clickable address shows and sometimes it doesn't. But if you copy and paste the shown address into your address bar and press enter it'll work.

Thank guys.

But I have solved the problem. I re-installed the old CD-ROM back and the system boot up no problem. Now my question is : Is the new CD-ROM incompatible with the motherboard or is it conflicting with some of the programs ??

By the way, I installed the new CD-ROM on another machine and it works fine.

rgrds and thanks
