I just met a very interesting problem, but I don't know why it could be like this:
my computer's ip was 10.1.0.166, but suddenly was unable to access our company's email server (10.1.0.15) and file server (10.1.0.10), while the other computers(but not sure if all of them) in the same private network had no such problem. But it had no problem to access the internet.
So I was suspecting the problem might be with the switch, I checked it, and everything just seemed fine.
The situation was last for about 10 mins and the network was restored, but after several mins, it happened again and again. So I changed the NIC, and configured it as before, but no help. Then I changed the ip to 10.1.0.169, problem solved.
I am using windows 2000 advance server, and I am quite puzzled on where the problem could be? Could someone please advise me on what the possible reason might cause the problem or where I should go and check it?
Thanks!
