I'm familar with the horizontal split where you can see two different locations in one document at a time. Which is available by selecting the little gray bar above the scroll button or Alt+Crtl+S. Is there anyway to get a vertical split? For example, you could have two non sequential pages on the screen next to each other.

Thanks in Advance.

I don't think you can arrange two panes side by side but you can do it with two separate windows on the same document.

Enjoy,
Tony

How do I open the same document with two separate windows?

When I double click on the file again to open it, Word pops up with the file (the first time I opened it) and if I start another instance of word and open the file through the open dialog it pops up the first instance of word with the document.

Once the document is opened in two separate windows, I can only save changes to one without losing changes of the other window right?

Select Window > New from the Menu in Word (assuming you're not using Word 2007). You will then have two windows in the same Word session presenting two different views of the same document, which you can tile any way you want. Only one window will have the focus at any one time but any changes you make in either window will be applied to the document and reflected in both windows when showing the particular part of the document - you cannot maintain two different sets of changes if that is what you are asking.

Enjoy,
Tony

That's perfect, thanks. I was looking for a way to see two different non sequential pieces of a document on the screen at once vertically, i.e. page 5 and page 10. (And be able to make changes to either and have them apply to the file.)
