Install Microsoft's Powertoy TweakUI and use its Rebuild icon feature:
Right click a blank area of the Desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced and check the the dpi setting on the adapter. It should be at 96. Then click the Appearance Tab of Display Properties, Advanced. Under the scrolling menu Item list select Icon (should be at 32), and then the Horizontal and Vertical Icon spacing (should be 43).
