Hi all,
I have a brand new (week old) IBM eServer xSeries 235 server w/ a Ultrium LTO1 internal. Running Veritas BE 8.6. I have had one errorless backup since putting all this in production. The job shows "Scheduled" until it actually tries to run, then gets stuck in a "Loading" status. An alert says something to the effect of "Insert overwritable media". I eject the tape, reinsert and the bu job runs fine. Have tried several small simulations with different tapes and couldn't recreate the prob. Suspecting a funky tape drive. This is the 2nd tape drive. The first one wouldn't eject the tape at all. Any suggestions? Thanks... afro

Do you have Removeable Storage service shutoff on the server?

Are you erasing the tape contents prior to running the job?

Not sure about the Removable Storage Shutoff service - will have to check. The backup job is set to overwrite. I had to eject and reinsert the tape after geting the alert that "no overwritable media found..." and everything was fine afterwards. Thanks... [afro]
