hello I have varitas 10 installed on an Exchange 2003 box

Veritas was set up and backed up fine up until yesterday. it keeps asking for correct credentials to backup the mailboxes. even when logged on as the account setup as an Exchange administrator.

would this be a veritas or exchange issue????

ta in advance

How are you logged on as Exchange Admin? Under BE services tab?

Check the Veritas Options, the credentials there have to match the ones you use.
In practice, you should not use Administrator or anything, as you are supposed to change that password regularly.

if you changed a password recently, then check that same account in Veritas.

This does not sound to be an Exchange issue, please see forum481

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all.

And you'd be better off backing up the Information Store - not the individual mailboxes. Brick level backup is bad.

ta all for the suggestions Oh Okay problem sorted.

on marcs41 note you were right it was not a exchange issue

solving the issue involved creating a mail enabled active directory user(which is also added to the appropriate groups), with a unique name which is different from names mailboxes mailbox.

And the solution was in the Veritas Help file as well....

ta 58sniper for that tip.....I realized why you suggested it via a quick search on it.

figures eh......pays to look in your own backyard first

thank you all very very much

You're welcome
