Veritas 8.0 Rev. 3311 crashes when trying to setup notifications

I just installed Veritas 8.0 Rev 3311 on a Windows 2000 server. I want to set up notifications, but here's the problem:
I click on Tools - Notification Setup. The Window on the left, the "Events to respond to", is empty. When I click on SMTP setup or Email setup, Veritas hangs for a few seconds then just closes down. When I open it again, I get a message claiming that there are two administrators signed in. Then when I click on Tools - Notification Setup again, Veritas hangs until I end it.
I am having a hard time finding an update on the support.veritas.com website, which I believe may fix the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and helpful.

FYI, I updated to Backup Exec 8.50 Rev. 3572 and I was able to set up notifications.
