Hello,

I got Windows XP Pro and Outlook as a standard setup for e-mail. I need to put my e-mail account on the outlook at work.

> Tools
> E-mail account
> Add new E-mail account
> I've put in the Information for USER, LOGON, SERVER
> Under MORE SETTING, I've put in MAIL ACCOUNT,
ORGANIZATION, REPLY E-MAIL
> Now when i go to TEST ACCOUNT SETTING, Then the little
window pop up and say that
- Network connection = OK
- Find Outgoing Mail Server = OK
- Find Incoming Mail Server = OK
- Logon to Incoming Mail Server = OK
- Send Test E-mail = FAILED

It say all the time "Please Verify The E-mail Address Field"

I have the same setting at home and everything works fine.
Can somebody explain why it don't work?

If i just leave it like it is and write a e-mail, then on the left top bar where you actl. choose over what account you want to send the email, ain't there. maybe that's a help ...

Thanks

Hello,

The reason that you can't send an email is most likely to be the fact that your home ISP has set restrictions on the IP addresses that are allowed to connect to its SMTP server (for outgoing mail). This is fairly usual, to stop it being used for sending spam messages.
If you change it to the SMTP server that you use at work, all should be okay.

However, have you thought of the possibility of having two separate machines both access the same mail account? It means that there will be two separate sets of messages, each different and it is difficult keeping the two in sync, not to mention the fact that accessing personal email on work time could be frowned upon by your bosses.

Hello,

There are two separate protocols used for email transmission and downloading.
SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) is used for Sending mail between mail servers. Use of SMTP servers is often restricted to users of the ISP to which it belongs because this is how spammers send out lots of junk mails (it is done by the IP address of the sender's PC).
POP3 is the Post Office Protocol v3. It requires a login (with username/password) which is done by the email package to download the message to your PC, and in most circumstances it is deleted then.

There is no reason why you can't use your work SMTP server - at work - to send a message with your home address in the From: line.

yeah, i thtought so but why it doing work... i have as incoming mailserver = pop 1.... and as outgoing mail server =smtp1... typed in at home and same thing at work ... but i get all the time the message .."please veritf ur email address in the email address field" .. but the funny thing is everything is ok
