I have a 7400A, G3siV12, PMS configured correctly (protocol might be an issue) and never see the Transmit Data or Receive Data LCD's on. My basis assumption is when the switch is trying to send maid status to the PMS application, I should see the TD LCD, but nothing. FYI, I have 2 7400a's and get the same results on both.

Any help would be great........paid Avaya $600 and all she could tell me was I had the translations correct!

My experience with 7400's or 8400's has always been connectivity. You have to have the right cables connecting to each device. The 25 to 9 pin cables are not always the right ones. They are very spicific and need to be tested may be with your laptop just to see if it is indeed spitting out data. If it is to your laptop then the cables are correct and it now is the PC connected to the 7400.

Is this a new install or an existing?

Agreed. The GuestWorks and DEFINITY Systems Technician Handbook for Hospitality Installations states a straight-thru cable is required for connectivity from the 7400A to the PC, which I do have, but I still do not see data coming from the 7400A. I have connected it to a breakout box and see nothing on pin 3, Receive Data. I have ordered another 7400A, but I have this same issue with 2 existing 7400A's.

I had thought I could set the protocol on the Definity to ASCII, connect the 7400A to my PC running a terminal emulator and see something come accross, but nothing as of yet.

Sorry, new install!

Thanks
