Are both the "disconnect after annoucement blah blah" and "stop" command needed together in a vector? I'm trying to eliminate steps in a vector and would like to use one or the other if both are not needed to stop further call or vector processing. This is what I have below. Thanks, TT

17 collect 1 digits after announcement 4971
18 goto step 20 if digits not-in table 1
19 goto step 4 if digits in table 1
20 disconnect after announcement 4972
21 stop

If the call came in by way of a Loop-Start trunk then the disconnect may not work as well. You could have someone holding the trunk line open for some time before the call goes away. Vector steps can also fail so putting a stop at the end of a block of steps is a good practice.

If your code had more steps after the disconnect step and it failed the vector would just go on to the next step and that may not be what you want.

I concur, but stop steps are usually expendable when your in a pinch for vector space. I tend to use them a lot to demark sections of vectors making it easier to interpret them, but then eliminate them if I need step space.

Hi guys, thanks to both of you for the suggestions. I was able to modify a few lines of code to reduce the number of vector steps, as well as use these suggestions, TT

I have been told by Avaya that all vectors need a stop step and the end, cuz the vector can take the occupancy of the pbx down to zero if the vector gets in a loop. But what does Avaya know, they told me these ip phones would work better than my old phones!

Good point, you could be right. best to use them if you have space. I've never quite seen the point in them, so you may be correct.
