I am a newbie to vectoring and want to write a script that allows the caller to either dial the 4 digit extension directly OR choice a single digit from a list of employees(only 4) after hearing the announcement stating the same .. I can get the vector to do either but not both at the same time!! I am not versed enough in the commands to find the "either/or" choice..
any help would be appreciated

I'm looking at doing something similar on our system. Just now getting in to vectoring though, so honestly, I don't have a good answer for you.

I'm looking at Chapter 8 of the BCS/Guestworks Vectoring guide, at their Dial-To-Name application. But, there are 'features' in this document (name1, name2, name3 in particular) that are not described nor can I found out exactly what they are.

Are you working with this doc?

That's probably where I'd start for your app...

You can do this, but in your prompt you will have to tell the user to press the option followed by the # key (ie: 1#, 2#, 3#, etc). This will tell the PBX they are done entering digits so it will route the call. Otherwise the system will wait for the caller to enter 4 digits (or whatever the extension length is). It doesn't know whether or not you are done entering digits for the extension or if you are just entering one digit for one of the options.

Hope this helps,

Josh

either that or make a 2 level menu. IE press 1 to hear a list of our employees or press 2 to dial the extension.
