Speech is most of th e time a routing problem so i doubt that the vcm is faulty but it can be possible
If you have direct media path enalbed on ilines or ip phones then turn that of and see if it works then
If it works then you have a routing problem but if it not works it still could be a routing problem

Will work for awhile when direct media path is unchecked. Seems to make no difference.
Thanks for your input- everything does seem to point to routing. If anyone else has a different take I'd love to hear it.

Routing is the likely cause. You could setup a hub between your IPO and netswitch. You could plug the IPO and vmpro and netswitch into the hub. You could then use wireshark on vmpro computer to trap packets. When the problem occurs you could examine the traps for failures.
