I keep getting kicked out of vb6 while in design mode. Last time it kicked me out just for pressing Shift+DwnArrow to highlight some text. Other times I just can't figure out why it is kicking me out but regardless I get the following message:

vb6.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being generated.

After I am kicked out vb creates 14 TMP files in my development area. I assume this is the log to which it is referring in the above error message. Only problem is the TMP files make absolutely no sense.

Please help. Getting kicked out practically every 5 minutes

I might be wrong in your case, but. There is a problem in VB6 during design mode. If you highlight/Select an object to move it, it's okay as long as you don't select the item twice. That will throw you out in the way you describe. There is a way round it, and that is to have the properties window open at the time you multiselect items. That way if you clicked twice on an item that was already selected, it won't fall over. Only a guess for you. Good luck

I had a similar problem once. I figured that some VB files were corrupted. I just reinstalled VB. I figured it would be quicker than searching and/or waiting for a solution.

I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but it may resolve your problem. Thanks and Good Luck!

reloaded vb6 w/service pack 5 and still having problem. Any other suggestions?

Is your Properties window open? There is a MSDN KB article on this (which I can't locate at present). It's a known bug if you do multi-select with properties window closed VB will sometimes crash

Properties window is open. Also, it is crashing at times for no apparent reason. Shift+DwnKy was just one example:)

Start off by uninstalling VB, and then use your registry cleaner and then re-install it.
Update it then to service pack 5. [/b][/i][/u]*******************************************************
