I am new to Visual Fox Pro like right now new. I just started a new job as VB programmer, but there is a old system in VFP that they want me to learn. I was wondering if any of you know any good books and sites that would be helpful in relating my VB knowledge to VFP.

Thanks
Matt

I know there is a lot of books out there that isn't the problem. I was just wanting to see if any of you have made the transition before and if so what books and sites were/are helpful.

Not just a listing of all available books out there.

Rick I'm currently a VB 6.0 programmer, but am trying to learn .Net on the side. I have a class scheduled for this summer to learn more, but they recommend going in with a good understanding first.

Thanks.

MJK,
The reason I asked, was while it won't take long for an 'old' VBer to get used to the form designer (etc.), it may take you a while longer to wrap your head around 'true' OOP, not the cut and paste version that VB 5/6 used.

VB.Net is much closer to VFP's OOP implementation, and until you really master it, you won't really be able to take advantage of many of VFP's strengths. (It's also really important if you use one of the many frameworks that are available - they can be quite cryptic for a beginner.)

Note: I've use FoxPro almost exclusively for the last 15 years, but I've had the occassional project in VB 5/6, Access, C++, and recently VB.Net.

Rick
