hi!

how do I know what componts, references, dll's I can use with a app that should run on a certain windows platforms?
Is there any info site on the web?

For example I made a small database app with MSFlexGrid, Dao 3.6 and a access2000 database. This app doesn't run on windows me.
Can I made a database app that runs on most windows versions?

Bye
Chris

Did you use the Packaging and Deployment Wizard? This usually sorts out the bits that you need.

Some prefer the various freeware, shareware or commercial packaging tools available on the net. Look on Google for more. Let me know if this helps

Hi!

Yes, I uses the Packaging Wizard. The problem is that the wizard includes all dll's etc uses in the project (very big file). And I think most of them are already installed in the system.
What I like to know is which dlls, componets are already installed in different windows platforms(95,98,ME,2000...).
So I could make "save apps" that run on most platforms without the need of installation...

What the user has on their system will depend on what other software they've installed as well as what the OS came with, also, the version they have may be the wrong one. You can't guarantee anything really.
