I have an exe which tests perfect using my local network info. When I edit the Adodc control and connection string info (server, uid, pwd and database) to work on a different network, I continually get the following error: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

I'm stumped. I have no idea what to do to try to correct the problem - been spinning my wheels TOO long on this and it's time to ask for help!

TIA for any & all assistance...

Beth

Try storing your connect strings in an external file (INI, Registry, XML) so that you can modify them without needing to recompile. That way, if a user has named their connection something different, all you have to do is tweak the connect string.

Sounds like a good idea - I understand the concept, but have never tried it. Do you have any suggestions of where I could look to learn how to do this?

To use the registry look into the getsetting and savesetting functions. There is good information in the help files, on msdn and you can search this forum. Well you can't search right now, the searching is down for maintanence. Thanks and Good Luck!
