I have been told by our vendor management company the following about a Val board upgrade that we have requested:

"You will have to backup your announcements and restore them after Avaya upgrades the firmware. The VAL board itself has to be re-seated for the changes to take effect. This means the announcements will be erased off of the card."

Does this make sense to any of you ? I thought that if the announcements are backed up, they can easily be restored once the boards are re-installed. If that is NOT the case, then whats the purpose of backing up the boards before doing the upgrade ???? Does it sound like we're getting hosed ?!

Are these TN2501's? It's my understanding that the announcements are backed up (via the VAL Manager software) to a hard drive location of your choosing (on a local PC or a LAN drive, for example).

At least, that's what I'm doing for announcement backups.... Susan
