I posted this thread on the NT forum, perhaps this is a more suitable forum. The d-un uses TCP/IP.
My cable operator writes software for Win95 to access the Internet. I have Winnt (SP5) on the PC that I need the Internet. I don't need or want their software, only access to the Internet. Their software runs over Dialup networking, surely I can set this up on NT without their software just to have the dialup session and then run IE5 on that network link. I have done this but when I try to connect I get an 'abend', the same settings work on the Win 95 PC I setup. What could I have missed?
The Cable operator does not support NT clients but accept that all you need to do is set up Dialup Net. They will therefore not help me in any way.
I have a 33.6K modem that connects to the telephoneline of my ntl cable tv inlet. I need to make a d-un connection to their network and then run ie5 to browse.
The d-un will dial, seem to connect and then during user verification the line drops with an abnormal end, giving a message that says 'this should not occur under normal circumstances...', it then says to get them to check number of licenses. It works fine with W95.
