I have a 81C upgraded to a communications server 1000.

I have a user who has several sat phones and he wants to set up a quick way to dail them. This is to support emergencies. They have a group of a thousand numbers set aside set up with a 4 digit dialing plan. The numbers are not part of my switch dialing plan as they belong to another group external to me.

Users wants to know if the following dialing senerio can be achieved:

User needs to dial Joe whose sat number is xxx-xxxx

User from a phone off my switch would press the star key and the last four digits of the number. My switch would translate the entire number and call it.

Possiable? How?

Gwads I hope I explained this right!

Appreciate any assitance.

Thank you

don't know of using the * in the dial plan. have you look at system or station speed dial. you could press the ssc key and dial a 3 or four digit code, send that off net and back. or can you use a dsc? any vacant number, then the 4 digits or ac2 then the 4 digits.. there are lots of options but i don't know of one that starts with *

You can have a 1000 number Speed call list that would number 000 to 999. it could be a System speed call or a user speed call. very simple to setup, except for entering all the numbers into the list.

Someone smarter than me (Eugene) called someone smarter than him (his boss) who knew the answer.

I did'nt understand most of it but it had something to do with load 86! Which I am looking up now.

If anyone though does have particulurs they would like to share, it would help me through this learning process.

Thank you

My first thought was speed dial, the user told me no, that he had seen the * work to route the 4 digit dial plan externaly.

(I told the user he may end up with a speed dial list)

Anyways it seems through LD 86 we can do this, still working on that!

Thank you for your very prompt responce!

Your really making this harded then it needs to be, just make a System Speed Call List and you can dial a 3 digit code to make the call.

Here is how you do it. We tested with Extension 6612 TN 16 0 15 11. I changed
that phone to have SSU 0002. Made FFC SSPU *2 activated. Built SSC 0002 with
1000 STOR's. 000-999. Modified 324 to dial 9,9282324.

What does the *2 do?

I just hit the speed dial button and the 3 digit code and it dials the number.

if you didn't have room for a speed dial button. or if you had analog sets.

the SSPU is programmed under FFC in LD 57 the customer chose "*2" to work with the last 4 of the DID range.

Check out the LD books on LD 57 for more info on SSPU, it looks pretty cool.

So much you can do with these switches!! lot's of fun..
