Hi!

We want to buy some new laptops in our business but we will have a major problem.

On new laptop now they don't have a serial DB9 adapter tu use with COM1 or COM2.

We have many dos prog software and they can only choose COM1 or COM2 in setup.

If we buy a new laptop they have only USB port with an adapter to serial DB9 and windows allow this adapter on COM5 or more (in WIN2K or XP PRO)

Since these new versions of windows we can't restart in DOS and we can't use USB port in DOS too.

Ay solutions????

If you really must use the serial ports, find a laptop that has serial ports. The USB/serial adapters are junk. Haven't seen a one that works completely, others here have had similar results. Search the forum for 'USB COM1'. You might also want to search forum750 forum616 and forum779 .
