hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to use msn messenger so that users on the network can talk to each other without going through the internet???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

try to use the net send command. get to a command prompt and type: net send (computer Name) then the message. this works well, but only if all the pc's are xp or 2k.

try winchat.exe somewhere in the Windows or system folders. [Thanks in advance|Hope I helped you]

For LAN Messenger software, last time I used RealPopUp.

Quite ok.

Please read up further to see if this suits ur LAN environment.. :)

Cheers,

Use 'net send' on the xp machines and winpopup on the 98 machines. On the 98's you can create a shortcut to winpopup in the startup folder, so that it runs at boot.
