Both machines XP Pro, SP2, latest patches. Having connected to the remote machine, user can play back sounds ok, but cannot hear anything from the remote machine's microphone. Provided that the Windows Recorder is started on the remote machine BEFORE a remote connection is established, user can see the waveform (amplitude) varying with sound picked up by the microphone. However, user hears nothing at his end.

Is this facility not available through Remote Desktop? If not, what's the best way to be able to monitor a microphone remotely?

Thanks Linney, pretty much confirms my thoughts that it's not a supported feature.

I have seen IP cameras which claim to support audio as well, but user already has a three-camera setup. Haven't yet found anyone offering just an IP audio facility. But I guess there maybe someone out there with a solution...

Is Remote Assistance through Windows Live Messenger an option? That's in reference to getting Microphone Sound from one computer to another?
