This is the same question as the previous thread but I need to get much more specific (and get some results soon) so I'm starting a new thread for this.

I believe to implement Ethernet comms between a Delphi module and a custom hardware device, I will need to use the IDTCPClient Indy component, (leaving aside anything to do with what will have to happen at the hardware end which will be the server).

To try and get a feel for this (not done anything remotely like it before0 I have been playing around with the Delphi/Indy demo programs for this component running both client and server demos on the same machine (setting the address to 127.0.0.1) for both parts, I just get 10061 Cant connect error. It must be something fundamental that I am missing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

After a bit more reading, I wonder If I can do what is required using the TTcpClient component from the Internet tab ?

This is turning into a blog but anyway. I/we just got the TTcpClientServer demo (netchat) working between 2 computers on our network.
So just need to work out how to send the data from the hardware end.
