I am trying to work out the best way to use Frontpage and Access to track which of my customers have downloaded which of my files from my website.

At the moment I have a Frontpage form at the point of downoad for each file, which the customer fills in with their Name and Email address- and the form results come to me as an email. I then extract the info from each Email, and put it into a single table Database, which has fields for Name, Email, and then a field for each file I have. I tick each file they have downloaded in the table. If it is a returning customer a retrieve their record and add the extra ticks, if it is new customer I create a new record, and tick what they have downloaded.

I know from the time it takes me that this is a crazy way to do it, but each alternative I look at seems to come up against a brick wall.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

thanks

Stuart

Tow options: ASP and or PHP

In a nutshell:

You need to have either a php/asp script that receives your html form and inserts the data to the database thus automating the process.

Reseach "Dynamic websites with php or asp"

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee....

Thanks.

I have been looking into that, but what I can't seem to find is any info on whether you can update the fields in records that already exist by that method, and if so how it's done.

Any advice?
