My boss would like to be able to Dial phone numbers from GroupWise 6 address books. When using the "Dial" command it will only work correctly if it is a 4 digit number and does not need to dial "9" to access an outside line. When trying to dial a 7 or 10 digit number it does not go through correctly on the phone.

I've gone into Phone and Modem options in Windows 2000 and made sure it was set to dial "9" to access an outside line, but GroupWise seems to be ignoring the Dialing Rules. I went into Avaya softphone and was able to add 4, 7, and 10 digit entries and dial those correctly.

Has anyone else worked with the Dial feature in the address book and has any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

UPDATED:

Found out from Microsoft's website that the number needs to be in full canonical format in some applications to work correctly with Dialing Rules.

The Microsoft article is here:

For example a phone number is (123) 456-7890 and it is in the U.S. The full canonical number would be +1 (123) 456-7890. From what I can tell the parentheses and hyphens are important too.

Hope this helps others out there.

Matt
