We have a Call Pilot 150 handling VM for our Norstar Modular ICS phone system. We have six incoming POTS lines, five of which are connected to our phone system. The sixth line is for our fax machine.
We would like to make use of that sixth line for calls, as we are occasionally using all five lines, and only receive a few faxes a day.
Here is what I *think* I need to do (not necessarily in the correct order):
1. Acquire an ATA to connect the fax machine to the phone system.
2. Have the phone co. add the sixth line to our hunt group, so incoming calls can use that line.
3. Route all incoming calls to the Auto Attendant (currently, we have five phones with Appr/Ring for the five lines on desks of those take our incoming calls).
4. Setup the ATA with an extension on the phone system and tell the call pilot what that extension is.
From what I understand, once this is done, the AA will sense when an incoming call is a fax and forward that call to the ATA's extension, allowing the fax machine to answer. The fax can come in on any of the six lines.
Is it really that simple?
