Using AT commands from a VB app

I am writing a VB app that dials a call using a modem and sends the sounds (dial tones, ringing, voice, etc.) to a speaker. However, when I dial from by app, the sound is very distorted. I think it has something to do with the AT commands I am sending to the modem because when I dial "manually" using the Windows Dialer the sound is not distorted. I am using a Creative Labs Modem Blaster modem and running Windows 2000.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The modem dialer that sounds "good" has probably set the speaker volume down so that it doesn't distort. This is purely an aesthetic feature, as it won't affect the tones being sent to the phone company.
