Using ADS as an LDAP Address Book

Has anyone gotten this to work without username/password authentication on software other then Windows Address Book?

We are trying to use it with a mix of Thunderbird and Eudora and Thunderbird doesn't have Username Authentication. I believe windows 2003 encrypts the ldap information as well.
