We are implementing a new windows 2003 server to replace our NT 4 server and establishing a new domain.
All of our client machines use windows 2000 or XP.
Is it possible to copy a user profile from the old domain to a user account of the new domain on the XP or 2000 mahcines.
All I see when logged in as domain admin is account unknown
Do i need to login as local admin?

Too little information on where you are & what you have done.

Did you use the MS NT to 2003 migration kit?

Is the old NT server still connected?

etc.

no tools have been used
the new server/domain is inplace
the olde server is still up and running but not in the new domain

Have a look at these.

Microsoft File Server Migration Toolkit

Migrating from Windows NT Server 4.0 to Windows Server 2003

ADD-02: Migrating from Windows NT Server 4.0 to Windows Server 2003

Smoothing the Migration from NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003

You should be able to move/copy profiles over if done correctly.
