User Log Off???

I have several Win 2k servers, multiple users will log on from the machine to the domain. A lot of the time a user will walk away logged on. How can I make sure that after a certain amount of time the user will be logged off automatically?

USe the POlicies for that user or group of users, find "automatically log off user when log on time expires", and enable it. A+, MCP, CCNA

I found the policies in the mms snap in local computer policy, but when I check the policies, and select add, I browse and there is nothing there. Am I missing something? Thanks. Glen A. Johnson

are you sure you're looking at the right policy? you should only be able to enable\disable , I don't know where browsing would come in....

If you select the option to "automatically log off user when log on time expires" that only means that if they pass their allowed logon time then they will be logged off. i.e. If a user can log on from 9am to 5pm and they leave their computer logged on untill 5:01pm then they will be logged off automatically.

I want to log them off just for idle usage. Any Ideas, it seems like it would be relatively simple.

Using W2K alone, you can only mandate a screen lock policy using Idle time. However, I'm sure there's 3rd party tools (or even something in the Resource kit) out there to do what you want....

Have you tried winexit.scr from the resource kit? It's a screen saver that will log the user off after a given amount of time.
