Hello,

I am using Microsoft Access 2002. I want to be able to have others access a database I have put togther. Now I want to allow others to View the tables and information in this database but not add or edit any information. I have tried using the wizard but when I start up the database there is no "Logon" screen. When I then go and add a password to the admin account and re-open the database it gets locked up. By that I mean when I put the password in that I specified it gives me an error.

Any ideas why ?? Am I doing something obvious wrong?

Read the MS Access Security FAQ. A few times. It's dense,a nd it really takes a little effort to get through it, but once you do, you'll have a great set of skills you can use in any of your databases, and you'll use them over and over again.

You can get that document from MS. I have a copy on my website, along with some stuff I wrote about Access security.
