I have an interesting problem. Accounts are getting locked out for no apparent reason. I will be working on my Win98 Laptop and suddenly, I can't access network drives. I check my account and I'm locked out. When I unlock my account, it will immediately lock me out again as soon as I try and access the network. The only work-around I have is to unlock the account, and before doing anything else, map a network drive. This will take care of the problem. It also happens with other people on WINNT 4.0 and Win98, also doesn't matter if it's a desktop or laptop. The frequency is about 3-4 times a week for me.

There is only one domain here, and a total of 3 domain controllers. There are no lockout hours or expiration dates on any accounts. I've had this problem since day one and have just lived with it as I try and figure out what could be happening. Anyone have any ideas?

When you unlock the account, the information may not have replicated to the other servers.

If you have an application that uses network password to run and your password changes but is not changed in the application it will lock out every time.

Also, if the person changes their password on one machine and they are still logged on to another machine this will also lock their account out every time.

I have supposedly found the problem, via Microsoft Tech Support. I'm told that the issue lies within Windows 2000. This is our Server's OS. When a client has a Win98 pc, there are times when you may be locked out. They have yet to figure out what it is and they have assured me that it will be fixed in SP3 of Win2K server. Thanks for the replies. I forgot I had posted this issue. Now I can post the solution....or I guess I should say, future solution.
