AD user account is disabled but mail messages are still going to the mailbox. How can I prevent that? Address has been hidden from Addressbook. Also there is no automatic reply to tell the sender that user's mailbox is not in use. I do not want to delete the mailbox.

Your choices are:

1. Remove the exchange attributes from the account
2. Remove all of the email addresses from the account (and uncheck the box that says "automatically update based on recipient policy")
3. Set delivery restrictions so that the mailbox will not accept mail from anybody.
4. Forward the mail to someone else

It can still receive mail. Hiding it from the GAL will prevent looking up the address, but if the address is already known it can be sent to.
