Hi guys

Quick question

Is there a way A user who has outgoing calls barred use the directory to make calls.
Calls are blocked

I am changing out a BCM to ip office
The bcm speed dials allow you to bypass the call barring .
It can be done individually per speed dial.

I am wondering is there a shortcode to bypass the barring when they select the directory.

I did see a short code to turn off call barring.
Will the work on e directory.

I have no lines yet so I can't test.

Any ideas

Call baring is call baring.
I don't understand your question really.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks tpeter

That answers it if you don't no.

Customer only wants some phones who are barred outgoing calls except those they put in the directory.

This way they can control the calls they make.

The only option is to use shortcodes.
Add all directory entries in to shortcodes for those users or a separate ARS.
This is the ony way.
So hopefully for you there are not that much directory entries :)

You could call bar the extension from making outgoing calls, then add the numbers to be dialled as short codes, as TLPeter says, then set them as dial emergency.

should work

Emergency is not needed.
Just use a shortcode with barred and add the directory number as dial.
A match will override the barred shortcode.

perter
that only works if the short-codes are used to bar the calls
this is for users that are set to Outgoing calls barred.

add the directory numbers to system short codes with a feature of DialEmergency

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

That is what I mean.
Bar outgoing calls with a shortcode and them make exceptions.

I would tell the customer it is not possible, other system = other features.
But that is because I am lazy from nature....

ok guys

Thanks for the ideas

Yes i told them it would not work( saved myself the Grief)[thumbsup2]
Because its a college and they want phones locked down from making calls out.

I have set up the short code *69*N#( call barring Off) so they can dial this first to allow the outgoing call to be dialled by the Teachers

then set a short code to reactivate the call barring again.

works fine so far.

I also tried the LOCK feature which i think is beter as it also prevents the users from using the features as well which is good.
if you dial 9 it also prevents out going calls.
So if they press unlock and Password they can Dial out and use the directory as well.
which is what they want.

I cant see how to put this function on to a button for ease off access
so stuck with using Feature- Phoneuser- Lock

You Guys will be pleased to hear(as a former BCM installer)
I told them to forget about BCM features as its Now an IPO and works Differently.

Thanks alot for the Help.[2thumbsup]

Why dont you set forced account code for those extensions ( or even better : Authorisation codes ). It does basically the same as unlocking the phone but then only on a per call basis.
So the user cannot forget to lock the phone after completing the call ( that will happen you know, I'm working with customer for over 35 years so I know them ) and when they forgot to lock the phone they will blame you for it.

@intrigrant: are your customers really that way? Over here they give me tips, offer their women and are willing to pay top dollars for the most insignificant piece of info...

yankblan: I must be living in the wrong province if you get that, LOL

I love sarcasm too and it was worth a star :)

This will work if set up like tlpeter suggested. Separate ARS barring outgoing calls and enter in the Speed dial numbers to that ARS. Have done this on several occasions.

Wow, I get stars for my jokes, not my contributions...

That means if we were a hockey team, I'd be the gritty 4th liner/glue guy that gets traded to a contender at the trade deadline every other year... I'm Esa Tikkanen!

No that would mean you play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, [rofl2] regardless of lineup

Sorry to all non-Canadians but the TML team is always celebrating to even make the playoffs and has not seen a cup (except on TV) in decades.

Sounds they have the right spirit though... if I was a Canadian I would be a fan.

I am glad you guys are having fun.

The American. Canadian jokes are beyond me ( sarcasm )[spineyes]

Now back to the real world.[yoda]

Yes I have played round with using barring in user short codes and the setting exceptions.

That's great for a small amount of numbers.

I was thinking bigger than that but as I am also lazy and could not be bothered tying a lot of exceptions .[wink]

I must try account codes , I didn't think about that as I thought they were for billing codes.

Thanks once again and I am glad I brought a few friends together to enjoying a joke
Bye for now[turkey]
