Use Quark4 on a Mac G5?

From all reports I've had, it will work fine in OS 10 "classic mode" (along with all your other OS9 programs).
Our company, along with many many others, are still using Quark4 OS9 because it's just to damm expensive to upgrade every bit of software.
Also a lot of companies have made the switch to InDesign, and forcing other companies to have it as well, and the only reason is that Quark 6 cost to much...

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone. Just to be super-clear, you are running Quark4 on Mac G5s, right? The scary thing about getting a G5 is that it won't boot into native System 9 if something goes wrong with Quark, whereas a G4 will.

Hmmm.... Who's forcing who? Folks are not switching to InDesign simply because Quark costs too much. Quark does not have the feature set for a layout application in the 21st century. I feel 'forced' that I need to maintain an old computer to handle legacy Quark 4 documents. All our new documents are created in InDesign.
If you are truly concerned about maintaining support for a 1996 DTP program, consider buying a used G4 that can boot directly into OS9. Not all G4s can boot into OS9. A survey of this forum will show that running Quark 4 in Classic mode is not error-free.

I agree with what you are saying...but...in my dealings with printers designers etc. cost is the driving force over features. Quark should get their act together, and make their program compatable with previous version files so that the transission is less painful. And yes, as with us Indesign seems to be the way of the future.
